How we check

Every answer comes from the service's or the maker's own help pages wherever they exist: OverDrive's for Libby, Amazon's for Kindle, Kobo's for Kobo. Where they don't say, we use a reputable secondary source and link it. Every answer links its sources, and says when they were checked.

What the answers mean

  • Works It's built in, or there's an official app.
  • Works, with extra steps It can be done the official way, but it takes a computer, a transfer, or a setting.
  • Doesn't work The service doesn't support the e-reader in Canada, and there's no official way round it.
  • Not checked yet We haven't confirmed it, so we don't give an answer.

What we leave out

We don't count removing DRM (copy protection) as a way of making something work. It's against the stores' terms and, in Canada, the Copyright Act's rules on digital locks.

Why Canada gets its own answers

Services work differently by country. Most guides are written for the United States, where some things work that don't here.
